Company History

POSCO DAEWOO established as a trading company called ‘DAEWOO Industry Co., Ltd.’ in March 1967. The company was assigned as a ‘general trading corporation’ by Korean Government in May 1975 and led the economic development of South Korea by increasing its exports. In January 1982, the construction department and the trading department were integrated, then renamed as DAEWOO Co., Ltd. Because of the 1999 Asia financial crisis, DAEWOO Group was disbanded and divided into DAEWOO International Co., Ltd. in December 2000. After that, until the end of its corporate reorganization (WORKOUT) in early December 2003, the company achieved average annual sales increases of 30%. In November 2010, it became a member of the POSCO and prepared to face the future on its solid foundation.


Since the 1st overseas branch was established in Sydney, Australia in August 1969, After that, as of 2016, POSCO DAEWOO has 109 branches and legal persons in 58 countries. Particularly in 1988, the company became the first Korean corporation which successfully enter the German and Chinese market. In March 2016, POSCO DAEWOO renamed and now is still leading the global market as a part of the POSCO Group.
